Accountant Jobs Dubai

Hey Accountant! So our accountant Ahmed just got a new job (good for him, not so great for us), which means we’re scrambling to find someone who can jump in and help us keep our finances sorted.

What’s the job like?

Day to day, you’ll be handling the usual accounting stuff – invoices coming in and going out, making sure payments get processed, keeping our petty cash drawer from becoming a complete mess. Nothing too crazy, just the bread and butter accounting work that keeps everything running.

Every month you’ll put together our financial reports. Management loves their P&L statements and balance sheets – they actually read them too, which is nice. Cash flow reports are probably the most important since we’re always planning ahead.

The VAT thing is probably the biggest headache. I won’t lie to you – UAE VAT rules can be confusing, and the penalties for messing up are no joke. We had a close call last year that taught us to be extra careful with filings.

Since we’re in a regulated business, there’s AML compliance work. Checking transactions, updating KYC files, making sure our documentation is bulletproof. It’s not the most exciting part of the job, but it’s important.

You’ll reconcile bank statements – we have accounts with ADCB and Emirates NBD mainly. Sometimes the banks take forever to process things, so patience helps.

Twice a year our external auditors show up and want everything perfectly organized. Our tax guy calls pretty regularly too, especially during filing seasons.

We’re using QuickBooks right now but honestly, if you’re really good with Zoho or Xero and can make a case for switching, we’re open to it.

Oh, and if you’ve worked in real estate, that’s a huge plus. We handle some property deals and commission payments. The escrow stuff can get complicated.

Who are we looking for?

You need a degree in accounting or finance – pretty standard stuff.

Here’s what really matters though: you need to have worked in UAE accounting for at least 2 years. Not London, not Mumbai, not Cairo – here in the UAE. The rules are different, the systems are different, even the way banks work is different. We need someone who gets it.

AML experience is a must. You should know what suspicious transactions look like and how to document everything properly without making it a big production.

VAT filing in the UAE – this is crucial. We can’t afford to train someone on this while they’re doing our actual filings. You need to know the FTA portal, understand the rules, all that.

Software skills: QuickBooks, Excel (the advanced stuff like pivot tables), maybe Zoho Books if you’ve used it. We’re not asking you to be a programmer, just comfortable with the tools.

You absolutely have to be detail-oriented. Last month our temp accountant mixed up two invoice numbers and it took us three days to sort out the mess.

Confidentiality is huge. You’ll know everyone’s salaries, see all our contracts, know exactly how much profit we make. That information doesn’t leave this office.

Why work here?

The salary is competitive – we checked what other companies are paying recently. We’ll handle your visa and provide health insurance through AXA.

Career growth is real. Sarah started doing basic bookkeeping here four years ago and now she’s our finance manager. We like promoting people who know the business.

You’ll get exposure to international transactions and AML procedures, which looks great if you ever want to move to banking or bigger firms.

The environment is pretty chill. We don’t micromanage, hours are flexible (within reason), and the team is supportive. Mohamed brings excellent coffee every morning.

We run a clean operation. No creative accounting, no pressure to hide things, no asking you to do anything questionable. Everything by the book.

Sound interesting? Email your CV and let’s set up a chat over coffee.
