Guitar Teacher Position – Abu Dhabi

We need a guitar teacher for our music academy. It’s a full-time job, you’ll be here every day teaching students in person.

Guitar Teacher Jobs Abu Dhabi

Mostly you’re giving guitar lessons. Kids after school, adults in the evenings, some weekend slots too. Skill levels are all over the place – complete beginners who can barely hold a pick, intermediate players working on specific songs, advanced students preparing for grade 8 exams.

Music theory comes up constantly. Students ask why certain chords work together or how to figure out scales. You don’t need to be a theory expert but you should know enough to answer the basic questions without confusing them more.

Exam prep takes up a chunk of time during certain months. Grade 5 and 8 exams mainly. Students get stressed about these so you end up being part teacher, part counselor.

We do recitals twice a year. Some students love performing, others need serious convincing. Getting a shy 10-year old to play in front of parents is harder than teaching them the actual song.

Other teachers work here too – piano, violin, drums. We share the practice rooms and help cover each other’s classes when needed. Everyone pitches in for academy events.

What you need for Guitar Teacher Jobs Abu Dhabi

You have to actually play guitar well. Sounds obvious but we’ve had applicants who could barely get through a simple song. Classical, acoustic, electric – doesn’t matter as long as you can demonstrate techniques properly.

Teaching experience is non-negotiable. Playing for years doesn’t automatically make you a good teacher. We need someone who’s dealt with frustrated students, knows how to explain things multiple ways, can keep lessons moving.

Piano helps a lot. Music theory is easier to show on piano, and some students learn chord progressions better when they see the pattern on keys first.

Russian and English both required. Half our students speak Russian at home, half speak English. You’ll switch between languages constantly during lessons.

Patience is huge. Seven-year-olds have short attention spans. Adults who work all day come in tired. Everyone learns differently and some take longer than others.

Music degree preferred but experience matters more. If you’ve been teaching privately for years and students actually improve, that counts for a lot.

Reality check

Some students practice daily and make you look like an amazing teacher. Others show up every week having touched their guitar exactly zero times. Both types are normal.

You’ll teach everything from classical pieces to pop songs to metal riffs. Students bring in YouTube videos asking “can you teach me this?” Half the time you’ve never heard the song.

Academy’s been around for 8 years, decent reputation. Pay is competitive for Abu Dhabi. Hours are mostly afternoons and evenings since that’s when people want lessons.

If you actually enjoy teaching and don’t mind dealing with the occasional difficult parent, it’s solid work.
